A comprehensive 3-year progressive literacy curriculum empowering 150+ adult women in Nepal with basic through advanced literacy and digital skills.
Overview
As Curriculum Developer at Hands In Outreach (HIO), I designed a 3-year progressive literacy curriculum for adult women in Nepal. This program addressed the critical need for women's education in underserved communities, starting with basic literacy and progressively building toward advanced reading, writing, digital literacy, and mentorship skills. The curriculum was adapted for cultural context and varying literacy levels.
Program Structure
Year 1: Basic Literacy Foundation
Establishing fundamental reading and writing skills through culturally relevant content.
- Alphabet recognition and phonics instruction
- Basic reading comprehension with local stories
- Number literacy and basic arithmetic

Year 2: Functional & Digital Literacy
Building practical skills for daily life and introducing digital tools.
